Bonding & Contouring

BONDING AND CONTOURING RESHAPE YOUR SMILE

Chips, cracks, awkward tooth shape, and small spaces between your teeth may disrupt the uniformity of your smile. Even the smallest imperfections may cause you to feel unhappy with your appearance. By addressing specific cosmetic damage with either bonding or contouring, we may make small adjustments that yield stunning results. Become familiar with each cosmetic treatment to determine will help you achieve your unique smile goals.

Dental Bonding

What Is Bonding?

Bonding is a cosmetic treatment that builds up areas that require additional tissue. We may address isolated esthetic concerns by adding the illusion of supplemental tooth tissue where a deficiency exists. First, we will apply an acrylic-resin material called composite to your tooth in layers. Composite is the same color-customizable material that we use for tooth-colored fillings. By manipulating the resin, we will craft it into the desired shape, set it with a curing light, and complete the procedure with a tooth polishing.

How It May Help

Bonding will repair minor cosmetic damage, so your tooth appears complete in the case of minor chipping or cracking. Or, we may select bonding to extend the appearance of a short tooth to achieve a symmetrical smile. Bonding is also appropriate for filling small gaps between teeth for a uniform smile without the use of orthodontics.

Dental Contouring

What Is Contouring?

Dental contouring removes minor amount of tissue to improve the appearance of individual teeth. Using a gentle polishing tool, we will buff away a miniscule amount of your tooth’s outermost layer, called enamel. Contouring is comfortable and efficient. Within one visit, we may reshape the border of your tooth or improve its texture.

How It May Help

Contouring will remove tissue that disrupts the beauty of your tooth and often times your entire smile. Reshaping effectively softens pointed teeth and pitted texture, reduces a long tooth to improve symmetry, gently reduces an overlapping tooth for an aligned appearance, and improves awkward tooth shape.
